Judging and Display

11. All judges’ decisions will be final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into.

12. All entries must have been painted in the last 2 years.

13. Artists whose principal residence is in the District Council of the Copper Coast area (postcodes 5554, 5556, 5558) or are financial members of the Copper Coast Art Group will be eligible to enter Section B – the Local Artist Award .

14. The Committee reserves the right to withhold any exhibit from the exhibition.

15. The Committee reserves the right not to award a prize in any category of the competition.

16. All entries must be suitably framed and ready for hanging with the wire tensioned so that the hanging point is 75mm below the centre top of the frame with flush D ring hangers (not screw eyes). Stretchered canvas is considered framed but must have rigid and adequate cross members. Paintings must be supplied with wire, not cord.

17. The following entries will NOT BE ACCEPTED:  Wet paintings, Oversize paintings, Pokerwork and pyrographic, Mono-prints, stencils,Unacceptable framing, Textile art works, Porcelain &   ceramics, Photographs or Prints,. Sculpture, Bark arrangements,  Damaged works, Beaten metal work, Plaster relief work, mosaics, Digitally enhanced art work, Unprotected tempera.

Terms of Entry

  1.  All entries must be the original uncopied work of the exhibiting artist and all works must be for sale.

  2. All entries must be accompanied by a signed Entry Form and a maximum of four (4) works may be entered. 

  3.  Each work must clearly show the artist’s name and address; the title of the art work, the medium; the relevant judging category/ies. If the artist intends to use Kadina Freight’s offer to return unsold paintings to the Adelaide depot, please note on the back of the painting.

  4.  All entries are submitted at the total risk of the artist. 

  5. The artist indemnifies the Committee of the Kernewek Lowender against any claim for loss or damage of whatever nature or cause.

  6. Entry fees are $10 for each work less than 1 square metre in size (including the frame) or $15.00 for each work larger than 1 square metre in size (including the frame). All entry fees are compulsory and will not be refunded under any circumstances.

  7. No entry is to exceed 1.5 square metres in size including the frame. Oversize entries will be rejected.

  8. Receipts will not be posted unless specially requested.

  9. By completing and signing an Entry Form the entrant gives permission for the Committee to reproduce any work submitted for the purpose of publicity, promotion of the exhibition, education, and sale of paintings without payment of fee, royalty or other remuneration.

  10. All entries must be with the Committee by 5.00pm   Friday 26th April 2017.

  11. Members of the organising committee may enter the art prize.

Awards

18. The Newberry $5,000 Art Prize shall be an “acquisitive” prize and the winning work will be retained by the Kernewek Collection. All entries are eligible for judging in the Open Section.

19. TO BE ELIGABLE FOR THE LOCAL ARTISTS AWARD MUST ENTER A WORKS THAT REFLECT S “OUR HERITAGE”

20. All local artist entries are eligible for the Local Artist Award however, only consideration will be given to the above when judging.

21. Each work can only be eligible for one prize (excluding the Hangers’ and People’s Choice Award).

​22. Major prize winners will be notified prior to Opening Night and announced at the Official Opening in the Ascot Theatre on Friday 19th May 2017 commencing at 7.00pm.

23. The People’s Choice award winner will be announced at approximately 12.00 noon on Thursday 25th May 2017.

Commission

24. A commission of 25%  will be charged on all exhibits sold during the exhibition.

25. Payment of sale proceeds will be processed on or before Tuesday 31st May 2017.

Receipt and Collection of Paintings

26. Sponsors Kadina Freight  have offered $10 per package transport of paintings to Kadina from their Adelaide depot through to 8th May 2015 and returning to the Adelaide depot on a date to be arranged. Secure packaging, insurance and liability is the sole responsibility of the artist. Delivery to Depot by 6th May.

27. Personal delivery of paintings –10th and 11th May between 10.00am and 3.00pm at the Ascot Gallery.

28. Personal collection of works (sold and unsold) - Friday 26th May - 10.00noon and 3.00pm and Saturday 27th May between 10.00am - 12.00noon.
